Blake Summy was born in Mission Viejo, California. His journey as an artist began on a trip to the thrift shop. When shopping, a $5 painting caught his eye. It wasn’t special, but Blake had a different vision for the piece. The $5 canvas was turned into the first Blakespaint original artwork. Originally called “Mac” , a portrait of Mac Miller, was completed in 2015. Once finished, a light clicked. Blake remembers calling his mom with tears in his eyes. He found a passion worth pursuing in life, and Blakespaint was born.
Blake’s original artworks for sale have become his main outlet for expression. In the same way he draws from Van Gogh’s electricity, oddness, and tendency to inspire, Blake’s work is able to bring together both the art collector, and casual appreciator in a way that makes them realize that, as human beings, the distance between people is never as far as we think.
