Sunflower Field - Oil Painting
In the “Sunflower Field” oil painting the viewer’s perspective is from the back of the sunflowers, and you can only see a couple of flowers straight on. As if none of the flowers are paying attention to you. I, the artist, have felt isolated or alone whilst in a room full of people. It can be an overwhelming feeling. It can lead you to isolate yourself even further— making you desire truly being alone because, for whatever reason, that feels less shameful. Yet there is one flower, in the center of the painting, that is angled straight at the viewer. This flower represents the singular person at the party, or event, that you know. They make you feel welcome and provide you with the needed sense of appreciation. Having at least one person is enough, and that is what this painting is about.
